4-Week Study Plan

1

Platform Overview (7%) + Instance Config (10%)

8–10 hrs

Master the platform UI: Application Navigator, lists, forms, favorites, dashboards. Understand system properties, branding, company settings, and basic instance configuration. Complete the Now Learning Fundamentals course.

2

Collaboration Apps (20%) + Self-Service (20%)

12–15 hrs

Deep-dive into Task tables, Incidents, Problems, Changes, Knowledge Management. Study Service Catalog, Service Portal, Notifications, SLAs, and Flow Designer. Practice building catalog items and flows.

3

Database Management & Security (30%)

15–18 hrs

This is the biggest domain. Master table schema, dictionary entries, ACLs, roles, users, groups. Study data policies, UI policies, business rules, client scripts. Understand the evaluation order and when each runs. This is the most critical week.

4

Data Migration & Integration (13%) + Review

10–12 hrs

Study Import Sets, Transform Maps, LDAP, SOAP/REST APIs, update sets. Take full-length practice tests. Review weak areas. Focus on scenario-based questions and evaluation order.

Exam Day Checklist

  • Read every question carefully. Many questions test subtle differences between similar features.
  • The evaluation order matters: Business Rules run server-side, Client Scripts run client-side. Know when each fires.
  • ACLs are evaluated from most specific (field-level) to least specific (table-level). All matching ACLs must pass.
  • UI Policies run AFTER Client Scripts (onChange). Both are client-side but have different execution order.
  • Business Rules order: before → engine processing → after → async. Display rules run when the form loads.
  • Service Catalog variables are NOT the same as form fields. Catalog Client Scripts use g_form differently.
  • Update Sets capture customizations, NOT data. Import Sets handle data migration.
  • Roles are cumulative — a user inherits roles from all groups they belong to.
  • The 'admin' role bypasses ALL ACLs. This is a common exam trap.
  • Know the difference between UI Actions, UI Policies, Client Scripts, and Business Rules — when to use each.
  • Flow Designer is the preferred automation tool over legacy Workflow Editor.
  • SLA definitions need a Start condition, Pause condition, Stop condition, and Duration.
  • For Knowledge articles: Draft → Review → Published → Retired lifecycle.
  • Inbound email actions can create or update records. Match on subject line or watermark.
